The Citrus College Summer Theatre, an annual San Gabriel Valley tradition, is returning to delight audiences with two dynamic productions:  William Inge’s “Splendor in the Grass” and Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes.”

Foothill Blvd. in Glendora, to buy tickets in person.  They can be purchased from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and one hour before performances.

“Splendor in the Grass,” a screenplay by William Inge and adapted by F. Andrew Leslie, is a touching coming-of-age love story set in the 1920s.  The classic film featured Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty.  This special Citrus College production is directed by Neil H. Weiss and features an all-student cast and crew of more than 30.

“This show is a wonderful challenge for young actors,” said Cherie Brown, theatre arts director.  “The characters are complex and thought-provoking, while the journey they go through is dramatically entertaining and intense.  I think our audiences will leave the play impressed by the high quality of theatre our department produces.”

The Citrus Summer Conservatory’s production of “Anything Goes” is directed by Gary Kinke and choreographed by John Vaughan, with musical direction by Doug Austin.  In this 1930s musical, the cast of 60 recreates one of Cole Porter’s best known scores including such hits as “It’s De-Lovely,” “Friendship,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Anything Goes,” “You’re the Top,” and “Blow, Gabriel, Blow.”
